About this time last year, I began writing ChatOps For Dummies, which was released in early 2015. The concept of ChatOps was one that fascinated me and I’ve spent a great deal of time writing, talking, and presenting on it all over the country. ChatOps is simply the practice of moving context or actions (or both) into a group chat tool. By doing so, teams across an entire organization can share the ingestion of critical information, actions, and their related conversations. By bringing all of this together into a single interface, a greater awareness regarding what is taking place across the entire organization is achieved.
We’ve seen the statistics about the continued growth of cloud adoption in the enterprise in 2016 (not surprising). What some people might not realize is the projected growth of hybrid cloud adoption – what experts believe to be the next phase in the evolution of the cloud. The global market for hybrid cloud adoption was over $25 billion in 2014, and analyst firm IDC predicts the same market to reach $84 billion by 2019. The model is growing so rapidly because organizations want to take advantage of the cost-savings enabled by the public cloud, but they realize the model can’t provide the levels of security and regulatory compliance needed to protect sensitive or mission-critical on-premise data. A hybrid solution is the most secure and cost-effective approach for many organizations.

Many System Integrators (SIs) scheduled day long events, organized evangelization with their Org and to their customers. Some SIs was cautious on their moves and some took big steps. Few bundled DevOps as a part of their transformation deals into DevOps win!

According to the results of a new global study, commissioned by CA Technologies, 72% of organizations have implemented some aspect of DevOps but when the study took a closer look at the numbers, only 20% of DevOps users have put all the parts in place to reap the full benefits of DevOps. In the previous blog I did a high-level overview of Angular 2 router and wrote a basic routing application that demonstrated displaying different components in a predefined area of the window. We often need not only display a component, but also pass some data to it. For example, if we navigate from the Home to the Product Detail route we need to pass the product ID to the destination route. Angular offers a directive RouteParams so a route can receive data from the parent component. There is also a RouteData directive that can be used to pass additional data to a route from the @RouteConfig section. I’ll illustrate the use of both directives by modifying the app from the previous blog.
Most people haven’t heard the word, “gamification,” even though they probably, and perhaps unwittingly, participate in it every day. Gamification is “the process of adding games or game-like elements to something (as a task) so as to encourage participation.” Further, gamification is about bringing game mechanics – rules, constructs, processes, and methods – into the real world in an effort to engage people. With another year coming to a close, it’s time to dust off the crystal ball for our annual predictions. However, before we forecast any new insights, I want to look back at our 2015 predictions, which could be best summarized as a maturing of technology innovations introduced in prior years. Now that the fundamentals are in place, there’s potential for significant shifts in both software and vendor shakeups in 2016. The emerging battleground of innovation continues to heat up between companies that make technology versus those that use it. Success will be determined by a company’s ability to leverage and monetize its data and API assets, drive contextual interactions with customers, along with its organizational agility to react to competitive forces.
