JNBridge has announced a new version of its JNBridge JMS Adapter for BizTalk Server. The JNBridge JMS Adapter for BizTalk Server enables enterprises to integrate BizTalk Servers into any existing JMS (Java Messaging Service) infrastructure, allowing messages to be passed between systems in a heterogeneous environment. The latest version of the adapter adds support for transactions and 64-bit platforms.
Now that a significant number of JSRs are being developed as open source projects, I thought it would be interesting to explore the implications of this for security. First, let's start with the basics. Security is fundamental to the Java platform – it's built in to the Java Language and the Java Virtual Machine specifications.
Sun has announced the availability of Java Platform Standard Edition 6 Update 10 (Java SE 6u10), which improves the usability and performance of the Java platform on desktop computers. Java SE 6u10 is optimized for consumers with new features that include improved startup time for Java applications and applets, the ability to drag Java applets directly from the browser and have them run as desktop widgets, more powerful and stylized application graphics, a faster and simpler installation experience and a new cross-platform look and feel.
Cloud computing is an opportunity for businesses to implement low-cost, low-power and high-efficiency systems to deliver scalable infrastructure. But moving to a cloud infrastructure is not necessarily as nice and clean as the providers would want you to think. With cloud infrastructures problems don't magically go away; they just shift: you don't have scalability or storage problems any more, but you need to constantly monitor the cloud and your application in it.
Applications that have high performance as a quality goal would motivate a programmer to design and build them as multithreaded apps. The Java programming environment provides for parallel execution of logic by using threads. However, this is at a lower level and provides limited capability. To make multithreading work successfully in an application, programmers have to handle higher-level concerns like synchronizing the execution of multiple threads, handling exceptions in threads executing in parallel, limiting the number of threads in the runtime environment, and thread pooling.
Come out from under the bed for a minute. Despite the horror of September, Gartner says worldwide PC shipments hit 80.6 million units in Q3, up 15% year-over-year. The way Gartner counts the number includes desktops, mobiles and x86 servers, but it attributes the turnout to Intel's newfangled netbooks, what Gartner calls "mini-notebooks," which are catching on in the U.S. and EMEA.

Marathon Technologies announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro. Under terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro will offer Marathon's everRun high availability and disaster recovery software to its resellers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Samsung announced that its 32 gigabyte (GB) and 64 GB solid state drives (SSDs) have been selected for use in the HP ProLiant BL495c virtualization blade server. This represents an SSD being qualified for use in a server optimized for virtualization. The server blade is designed specifically to host virtual machines, and is designed for use in virtualized environments that require significant memory, data storage and network connections to optimize server performance.
