Kubernetes for Enterprise | @KubeSUMMIT @NirmataCloud #DevOps #CloudNative #Serverless #Docker #Kubernetes

Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. This leads to a waste of cloud resources and increased operational overhead.

Three Pillars of CIA Triad IoT Security | @CloudEXPO @WindRiver #IoT #IIoT #SmartCities #DigitalTransformation

The transition from closed networks to enterprise IT networks to the public Internet is accelerating at an alarming pace-and justly raising alarms about security. As we become increasingly reliant on intelligent, interconnected devices in every aspect of our lives, how do we protect potentially billions of them from intrusions and interference that could compromise personal privacy or threaten public safety? This discussion will highlight which means there are to protect IoT devices from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or even destruction. The base foundation for this kind of security is the CIA triad, composed of the following three pillars: confidentiality, integrity and availability. Confidentiality for preserving authorized restrictions on access and disclosure; integrity for guarding against improper information modification or destruction and ensuring information nonrepudiation and authenticity; and availability for ensuring timely and reliable access to the device and information.

Serverless Keynote at @KubeSUMMIT | @DavidLinthicum @Deloitte @DeloitteUS @DeloitteOnTech #CloudNative #Serverless #DevOps #Kubernetes

In a recent survey, Sumo Logic surveyed 1,500 customers who employ cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). According to the survey, a quarter of the respondents have already deployed Docker containers and nearly as many (23 percent) are employing the AWS Lambda serverless computing framework. It's clear: serverless is here to stay. The adoption does come with some needed changes, within both application development and operations. That means serverless is also changing the way we leverage public clouds. Truth-be-told, many enterprise IT shops were so happy to get out of the management of physical servers within a data center that many limitations of the existing public IaaS clouds were forgiven. However, now that we've lived a few years with public IaaS clouds, developers and CloudOps pros are giving a huge thumbs down to the constant monitoring of servers, provisioned or not, that's required to support the workloads.

Is Hybrid the Missing Link to Cloud? | @CloudEXPO @SteadfastNET #Cloud #CIO #Serverless #DataCenter #DigitalTransformation

Concerns about security, downtime and latency, budgets, and general unfamiliarity with cloud technologies continue to create hesitation for many organizations that truly need to be developing a cloud strategy. Hybrid cloud solutions are helping to elevate those concerns by enabling the combination or orchestration of two or more platforms, including on-premise infrastructure, private clouds and/or third-party, public cloud services. This gives organizations more comfort to begin their digital transformation without a complete overhaul of their existing infrastructure - serving as a sort of "missing link" for transition to cloud utilization.

Using Artificial Intelligence for Evil | @CloudEXPO @CylanceInc | Cloud #CIO #AI #DataCenter #Security #ArtificialIntelligence

Artificial intelligence is positively affecting our world in previously unimaginable ways across many different industries. The use of AI is particularly interesting in the cybersecurity industry because of its unique ability to scale and prevent previously unseen zero-day attacks and for automating complicated analysis and processes at machine speed. But just in the way drug cartels built their own submarines and cellphone towers to evade law enforcement, so too will cyber-criminals build their own AI systems to carry out malicious attacks. AI is a force for good and has demonstrated great success thus far in security applications; but AI can also be used for evil. Malcolm Harkins, Chief Security and Trust Officer at Cylance, will cover the basics of AI technology, how AI is currently being used for evil and suggested ways to combat AI attacks.

Citrix to Present at @CloudEXPO Silicon Valley | @Citrix @PJHough #Cloud #CIO #DevOps #SmartCities #DigitalTransformation

Today's workforce is trading their cubicles and corporate desktops in favor of an any-location, any-device work style. And as digital natives make up more and more of the modern workforce, the appetite for user-friendly, cloud-based services grows. The center of work is shifting to the user and to the cloud. But managing a proliferation of SaaS, web, and mobile apps running on any number of clouds and devices is unwieldy and increases security risks. PJ Hough, Citrix Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, discusses improving personal productivity with an evolved approach supporting modern workstyles and simplifying IT complexities to deliver the right experience to the right user at the right time, on any device.

Google Serverless and Machine Learning at @KubeSUMMIT | @GoogleCloud #AI #ML #DL #CloudNative #Serverless #Kubernetes

When a company wants to develop an application, it must worry about many aspects: selecting the infrastructure, building the technical stack, defining the storage strategy, configuring networks, setting up monitoring and logging, and on top of that, the company needs to worry about high availability, flexibility, scalability, data processing, machine learning, etc. Going to the cloud infrastructure can help you solving these problems to a level, but what if we have a better way to do things. As a pioneer in serverless notion, Google Cloud offers a complete platform for each of those necessities letting users to just write code, send messages, assign jobs, build models, and gain insights without deploying a single machine. So cloud compute on its own is not enough, we need to think about all of the pieces we need to move architecture from the bottom, up towards the top of the stack. With the serverless tools, companies can focus on the most productive task: application development.

Three Highlights from @CloudEXPO NY | #Cloud #CIO #DevOps #Blockchain #DataCenter #ArtificialIntelligence

The term "digital transformation" (DX) is being used by everyone for just about any company initiative that involves technology, the web, ecommerce, software, or even customer experience. While the term has certainly turned into a buzzword with a lot of hype, the transition to a more connected, digital world is real and comes with real challenges. In his opening keynote, Four Essentials To Become DX Hero Status Now, Jonathan Hoppe, Co-Founder and CTO of Total Uptime Technologies, shared that beyond the hype, digital transformation initiatives are infusing IT budgets with critical investment for technology. This is shifting the IT organization from a cost center/center of efficiency to one that is strategic for revenue growth. CIOs are working with the new reality of cloud, mobile-first, and digital initiatives across all areas of their businesses. What's more, top IT talent wants to work on DX initiatives, or will look for opportunities elsewhere.
