On the Apple campus today March 17, Apple hosted a special media event that focused on, and introduced the next generation of the iPhone OS... 3.0. It was an invitation only event that has drawn much interest over the last week, across many blogs and in turn created much speculation of what was going to be announced. If you asked any self respecting iPhone Developer, you would get many wish-list items as well as the same from iPhone users, well now the truth is out there!
Javaground has announced a new component of its Xpress Suite allowing developers to automatically generate a native iPhone program from a Java source code. Traditionally, developers target the iPhone by re-writing their Java source code in Objective C. Now, their existing Java code can be reused and automatically converted to create high-performance iPhone games and applications.
Apple yesterday announced that they will host an event at their corporate campus in Cupertino, California, on March 17 and that this event will provide a "sneak peek" at the iPhone 3.0 software, along with information about the new software kit that 3rd party vendors and developers use.

At the last moment of foraying into China, Apple faces a dilemma to choose a partner for the promotion of its iPhone. The new choice is China Unicom, which has started negotiations with Apple over the introduction of iPhone into the country. If China Unicom gets the license to sell the 3G iPhone in China, the business will greatly help the company's promotion of WCDMA products. China Unicom is the country's sole WCDMA carrier.
Recently I used a great new facility on LinkedIn and started a poll. For this poll I posted a discussion link that stated "What will be the widestly adopted Enterprise Mobile Device in 2009?" The iPhone, like the PC before it, is a compelling and popular device that is usurping the entrenched technology. The enterprise will change and adapt due to the device's popularity as it did for the PC decades ago. Whether or not the iPhone is the perfect enterprise device is less important than the fact that it is such a popular device outside of the enterprise. Other devices like Blackberry and Windows Mobile do not have the kind of popular support outside of work that compels companies to build infrastructures to support them in the enterprise.
Mailtrust, the email division of Rackspace Hosting, announced their backup and synchronization capabilities with the iPhone. Mailtrust has released its new Noteworthy sync for iPhone tool, enabling customers to have access to their critical contact information on the go. Since the iPhone’s launch in 2007, Mailtrust has provided both their Hosted Exchange and Noteworthy customers with email sync capabilities, with Hosted Exchange customers also having access to calendars, contacts, and tasks.
I wanted to flag a recent article from Rachael King, that appeared on BusinessWeek.com discussing a study by Gartner that shows office land lines decreasing as corporate users rely more on their mobile devices. This is interesting and following on from my previous post where I state that 'Mobility is an exciting place', and the posting on Apple's Enterprise iPhone usage etc including an impressive customer video.

The question is, will Apple decide this is the road it wants to travel? Will it cede the control it so famously exerts over every stage of its products development? Or will it choose for the sake of increased financial opportunity to compete in the enterprise?"
Following on from my previous article where I state that 'Mobility is an exciting place', check out the new Apple posting on their Enterprise iPhone usage etc. Seems that Kraft Foods have adopted a wireless office policy insode the company, using iPhone for all their Enterprise needs and have developed iPhone applications for their consumers. That takes the biscuit.... a Kraft one I hope ;-)
