The awards are presented by the game creation tools company to developers who've made exceptional use of Unity in their projects and, held in the main hall of the San Francisco Masonic centre, were the most glitzy yet.

Game tool company admits publishers are put off by Unity Web Player's low penetration.

Unity Technologies has demonstrated its planned Flash export technology for the first time at the Unite 11 conference in San Francisco.

The game tools company used its annual conference to court Flash developers, introducing Unity3D's features to a packed room of attendees and detailing the Flash support it revealed in February this year following the release of Molehill.

I Am Alive confirmed for XBLA and PSN

Ubisoft's troubled survival adventure reborn as a download title, due this winter.

Ubisoft's troubled I Am Alive is, the publisher has confirmed, still alive, and will be released this winter.

In a press release, the publisher reveals that the game, which tells of one man's quest to find his missing wife and daughter a year after a disaster dubbed The Event, will be released not as at retail as originally planned, but for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Sony takes PSN offline as Battlefield 3 beta launches

Sony has presented those looking forward to today's launch of the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta with a major headache by taking PSN down for maintenance this evening. In a post on the PlayStation community forums, Sony confirms that PSN will be offline between 5pm and 7pm BST.

Sony has presented those looking forward to today's launch of the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta with a major headache by announcing that PSN will be down for maintenance this evening.

In a post on the PlayStation community forums, Sony confirms that PSN will be offline between 5pm and 7pm BST. During that time, the PlayStation Store, account registration and account management will all be unavailable. Those who sign in before 5pm, however, will be unaffected.

Free Realms is now available on the European PlayStation Network, Sony Online Entertainment has announced. The family-friendly, free-to-play MMOG was released in 2009 for PC and last year for Mac, and has been available on the US PlayStation Store since March. It is the second SOE MMOG to hit PSN, following the release of DC Universe Online in January.
