Activision and Infinity Ward settle out of court

West, Zampella and studio staff settlements agreed upon, but kept confidential.

The long-running legal dispute between Activision and former Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West has been resolved - the day before the case was due in court.

"All parties have reached a settlement in the dispute, the terms of which are strictly confidential,” said West and Zampella's attorney, Robert Schwartz.

E3 2012: Platinum details Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Raiden's starring role, now in the hands of "the greatest action game company in the world," due in early 2013.

The undisputed star of Konami's pre-E3 broadcast was Platinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, with a new trailer showing how the game has changed since development duties were passed to the Bayonetta studio earlier this year.

Just being there: redefining the videogame

No scores, no fail states, no challenge - do titles like Journey, Dear Esther and Proteus even deserve to be called games?

Few questions in the discussion of videogames are more slippery than, ‘What is a game?’ Many have attempted to nail down a definition that’s specific enough to be useful, while also being broad enough to be able accommodate the many forms that exist. but eventually, inevitably, every definition is met with a ‘game’ that tests its boundaries.

Until recently, there were a few attributes that seemed so fundamental to what a game is that they appeared unquestionable: choice, interaction, challenge, and an emphasis on systems. essentially, something to do.
