Fable Heroes' creative origins

Lead designer Ted Timmins on how Lionhead's XBLA brawler was born.

Next week's XBLA release is Fable Heroes, a fourplayer brawler made by a 15-man team at Lionhead. It was born at the studio's annual Creative Day, a two-day event where staff are given freedom to work on whatever they choose, which we covered back in E228.

Another Ludum Dare means another intricate puzzle box from Jonathan Whiting.

I wish somebody would let Jonathan Whiting make an actual Zelda dungeon. I’m pretty sure the Oxford-based game designer would be up to the task. For Ludum Dare 22, he produced the creepy, claustrophobicmazes of Craequ, after all, which turned a fairly standard muddle of blocks and teleporters into some truly brilliant puzzles.
