Over the years I’ve started or helped to start lots and lots of Internet projects. Some have become popular beyond expectations (Wikipedia, my educational videos) or well-used and well-respected within their fields (WatchKnowLearn,Reading BearEncyclopedia of Earth). Of course, some have failed to thrive (ahem). I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed the process.

I finished my Ph.D. in Philosophy 16 years ago, just as my Internet career was starting. I still retain an analytical, yet creative frame of mind as I develop my projects and help others with theirs. Some people fear and avoid the grey, thorny, difficult issues. By disposition and training, I love ’em.

I’ve almost always worked on my own projects. But last year I had the opportunity to spend a few days preparing a general review of a nonprofit website that was doing quite well: Ballotpedia. I was surprised that I was able to write, in just a few days, a 10-page document that was so well received. Ballotpedia acted on most of my advice and was delighted with the results.

I’m hereby offering to do the same for others. Consider me a very short-term executive consultant—I’ll use your website, poke at it hard, think about it hard, and give you copious and expert feedback, with plenty of ideas for improvement, to do lists, bugs, etc. I’ll bring all my expertise to bear and hold nothing back.

For purposes of testing the waters and building a clientele, I am putting the price at $2,000 for established businesses and VCs, and $1,500 for smaller non-profits and pre-Series A startups. I believe my service is worth more than that—but I’ll let the market prove it.
