Vlambeer’s furiously-paced PC indie was always going to be a imperfect fit for touchscreen controls, and, despite the best attempts of The Blocks Cometh developer Halfbot, so it proves. After a period of acclimatisation, they’re manageable, but never feel as comfortable as you would wish, the fire button never quite where your thumb expects it to be. On an iPhone or iPod Touch, it suffers more than most from digits obscuring the lower half of the display. And somehow, all of this seems to matter very little.

World Of Goo hits a million Apple downloads

Indie physics puzzler World Of Goo has been downloaded over a million times from Apple's App Store, developer 2D Boy has announced. In a post on the studio blog, the company points out that the milestone has been reached just over a year after the game was first released for iPad. Around 290,000 of the total were downloaded for iPhone, with the vast majority of downloads - 690,000 - of the universal app that followed. The remaining 20,000 were downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Kaz Hirai has poured cold water on claims that Sony is to unveil a new home console at this year's E3. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal Hirai, president of Sony's Consumer Products And Services Group, said that recent reports claiming the PlayStation 3 successor would be unveiled at the Los Angeles trade show in June were wide of the mark.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier delayed to May

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier will be released in the UK for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, publisher Ubisoft has announced. The news means a further delay to a game that was originally intended for release in late 2010. In October, Ubisoft pinned down a release date of March 6; a beta planned for January will now launch in April. The delays aren't over yet, though - the PC version will follow "at a later date."

The company says OnLive Desktop is the first "no-compromise" Windows experience on iPad, which will give full access to Windows 7 applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. The app offers multi-touch recognition, a full on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition.

The figure comes from a media briefing at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
