Unity Technologies has announced the release of the Unity Android and Unity Android Pro versions of its popular 3D development platform.

Because Unity has been designed to offer a single authoring environment for all of its supported platforms, including iOS, the company says developers can now port their Unity-based games to Android with a single click of a button.

GDC 2011: PC Game Market Grew 20% In 2010 - PCGA

The global PC game market saw "surprisingly strong growth in 2010", recording record annual revenue of $16.2 billion, according to new research released by the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA).

The non-profit organisation said the figure represents growth of 20 per cent over 2009’s total.

The data comes from the PCGA’s third annual Horizons report, which was prepared by market research firm DFC Intelligence.

GDC 2011: European Digital Market To Double By 2015

Market research firm DFC Intelligence has forecast that the European market for digital game content will grow to €3.3 billion ($4.2 billion) by 2015.

If achieved, the figure would be almost double the €1.7 billion ($2.2 billion) the market generated in 2010.

The data comes from a new report, Monetising the European Market for Virtual Currency, the key findings of which are due to be presented this Thursday at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, according to co-contributor Live Gamer.

Epic Games is showing off the latest enhancements to its Unreal Engine at this week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. Chief amongst them is the addition of DX11 support.

Unreal Engine 3 now features DX11 tessellation as well as support for Nvidia’s Physx, Apex and 3D Vision technologies. A realtime demo showcasing the engine’s capabilities will be shown off at GDC.
