How the Internet of Things Will Impact Energy Efficiency | @ThingsExpo #IoT

The Internet of Things has dramatically changed the way we analyze behavior and is now in the process of boosting the way we use energy. Smart technologies are bursting into the retail space with solutions speaking to brands on improved marketing efforts, customer engagement, and optimization of floor plans. But one question has risen out of the chatter: How can the Internet of Things (IoT) improve energy efficiency? Not simply for retailers, but for commercial environments and homes (smart or not) as well?

Enterprise Architecture: Ripe for Digital Disruption | @CloudExpo #Microservices

The iteration of constraints and initial conditions that drive and influence self-organization within the enterprise is the actual role of an architect who is architecting emergent behavior – in particular, business agility. You may call such activities something else – management practice or some such – and to be sure, we must reinvent management practice along the same lines as EA. But whatever we call it, there needs to be an understanding that creating the conditions that lead to effective self-organizing teams is itself an architectural activity, an activity separate from the architectural activities such teams undertake when their goal is to implement a software system.

Building a Global IoT Community | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #Microservices

The promise of IoT is to have all things connected, feeding data and pushing content and solutions. This connectivity and the data from it has the potential to provide richer customer experiences, better business results, and much more informed consumers. So what happens when we take what is personal and enhance it with technology? Tile enables people to choose the things that matter most to them, and make those things connected. No other mass market IoT device does that at scale. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Guilherme Chapiewski, VP of Engineering at Tile, will speak about his vision for developing an IoT platform that will create opt-in communities and build networks intelligibly. Through his successful creation of Tile, Guilherme can illustrate key customer stories that demonstrate how building a strong community is essential to developing an IoT network for end users.

How to Monetize the IoT | @ThingsExpo @AriaSystemsInc #IoT #Microservices

There's no doubt that the Internet of Things is driving the next wave of innovation. Google has spent billions over the past few months vacuuming up companies that specialize in smart appliances and machine learning. Already, Philips light bulbs, Audi automobiles, and Samsung washers and dryers can communicate with and be controlled from mobile devices. To take advantage of the opportunities the Internet of Things brings to your business, you'll want to start preparing now.

Magic: The Gathering – DevOps Deck | @DevOpsSummit #DevOps

I can’t say I was entirely surprised when I saw a direct correlation between people who played Magic: The Gathering growing up and people in the DevOps space now. I loved Magic: The Gathering growing up and so did most of my co-workers. Building out decks, trading cards, and finding the perfect combinations to destroy my opponents were all what made the game worth while to us. If you are anything like me, you still flip through your old deck every now and again reminiscing on the good ol’ days of mountain dew and pizza bagels. But alas, we are adults, we work in IT and Magic: The Gathering has for many of us (not all) become a nostalgic memory fondly remembered.

Data Protection with DRaaS | @CloudExpo @ZertoCorp #IoT #Microservices

Organizations are now three times more likely to adopt cloud-based provisioning of recovery sites. Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is a critical offering for cloud providers as it offers a non-intrusive solution for end users to effectively evaluate the cloud and become more amenable to using the cloud for further use cases. Cloud service provider’s DRaaS offerings must be rigorous enough to push the performance of the cloud but be a safe proposition for the enterprise. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Dan Olivares, Service Provider Expert at Zerto, will discuss how to lower barriers to entry with a hypervisor-based solution that installs seamlessly into the customer environment with no application reconfiguration, as well as delivering consistent support of disaster recovery SLAs within one solution that can be deployed across multiple sites with multi tenancy All this within a simple, centralized management of all processes from one interface.

Network-Aware Orchestration: The Next Level of SD-WAN By @SDietric | @CloudExpo #Cloud

Enterprise networks have become complex. They were designed and deployed to meet a specific set of business requirements at a specific point in time. Configuration modifications were rare, and manual or semi-automated processes together with strict change control procedures were enough to maintain reliability and consistent service levels across the organization. Business needs have shifted dramatically. The adoption of cloud services, business application-focused requirements and evolving security policies require IT organizations to continuously deploy configuration changes. The common approach of either manually performing changes necessary or simply replacing the complete device configuration, rebooting and hoping it will function, creates unacceptable risks and potential network interruptions. Therefore, enterprises are looking for better ways to automate the management of their networks through leveraging existing capabilities to optimize performance and reducing operational risk through standardization and best-practice architectures.

The Internet Part of 'Internet of Things' | @ThingsExpo @Dyn #Microservices

Internet ready devices are becoming increasingly common, yet architecturally they often still act like point-to-point networks. Meanwhile, containers are making rapid deployments across networks painless, but knowing where and when to deploy them to meet market demand is just as critical. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Matt Torrisi, Customer Success Operations at Dyn, will discuss what the public internet in the middle really looks like, and how operators can build their networks for better performance and security.

Disruption in the communications ecosystem is creating a market opportunity for Cloud Real-Time Communications (RTC) platforms. We expect this market to represent a $4.5 billion opportunity by 2018. Cloud RTC Platforms are cloud services that enable mobile and web developers to integrate communications into their applications with just a few lines of code. Via REST APIs and SDKs Cloud RTC Platforms enable developers to easily integrate voice, messaging and video calling into mobile and web applications supporting more contextual conversations. These tools have the potential to change in how we interact with each other in the future.
