Three Pillars of DevOps Success in 2018 | @DevOpsSummit @CollabNet #DevOps

I love the beginning of the year. It is always enjoyable to see people's predictions for trends in the coming year. Publications like Fortune, CNN Money, Washington Post and the Atlantic speculate about what gadgets and technologies are going to take off in popularity this year, psychics predict which celebrities will have babies and fall in love, and I start to think about trends like DevOps and where the software delivery industry is headed next.CollabNet, Eric Robertson, predicted.

Jogl and Java 3D | @CloudExpo #Java #Linux #IoT #IIoT #AI #SmartCities

We are given a desktop platform with Java 8 or Java 9 installed and seek to find a way to deploy high-performance Java applications that use Java 3D and/or Jogl without having to run an installer. We are subject to the constraint that the applications be signed and deployed so that they can be run in a trusted environment (i.e., outside of the sandbox). Further, we seek to do this in a way that does not depend on bundling a JRE with our applications, as this makes downloads and installations rather long.

Artificial Intelligence in Games | #ExpoDX #AI #ML #IoT #ArtificialIntelligence

Of course, AI in gaming is far from a recent innovation. The concept of a one player chess game involving a human player versus a computer, was first born from the ponderings of mathematician and cryptographer Claude Shannon, way back in the mid-20th century. Indeed, gaming has always been a key driving force behind AI. Some would even say that video game AI is changing the world. Presently, this technology is the foundation of virtual experiences.

Registration Opens for @YungChou Jenkins Session | @DevOpsSUMMIT #Serverless #DevOps #Jenkins #Github #Docker

CI/CD is conceptually straightforward, yet often technically intricate to implement since it requires time and opportunities to develop intimate understanding on not only DevOps processes and operations, but likely product integrations with multiple platforms. This session intends to bridge the gap by offering an intense learning experience while witnessing the processes and operations to build from zero to a simple, yet functional CI/CD pipeline integrated with Jenkins, Github, Docker and Azure.

Ed Featherston Joins @CloudEXPO NY Faculty | #BigData #IoT #IIoT #SmartCities #DigitalTransformation

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the massive amount of information associated with these devices. Ed presented sought out sessions at CloudEXPO Silicon Valley 2017 and CloudEXPO New York 2017. He is a regular contributor to Cloud Computing Journal.

Load Testing Tool Must-Haves | @CloudExpo #DevOps #AWS #Monitoring

The cloud provides two major advantages to load and performance procedures that help testing teams better model realistic behavior: instant infrastructure and geographic location. Cloud-based load testing also lowers the total cost of ownership, increases flexibility and allows testers to understand the impact of third-party components. So you’re sold on using the cloud; here’s what you should look for in a cloud-based load testing solution.

Dana Gardner to Moderate MultiCloud Panel at @CloudEXPO NY | @Dana_Gardner #AI #IoT #DevOps #Monitoring #SmartCities

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in this new hybrid and dynamic environment.

Blockchain Business Innovation | @ExpoDX #AI #FinTech #Blockchain #Bitcoin #Ethereum

Is there more than bitcoin to blockchain? Absolutely, because today's blockchain is opening up a pathtowards the delivery of trusted online services. To understand this statement, you need to see blockchain as more that it's more famous bitcoin use case. As a fundamental digital tool, blockchain is a shared, immutable ledger for recording the history of transactions. If used in this fashion, it can enable transactional applications that can have embedded trust, accountability and transparency attributes. Instead of having a Bitcoin blockchain that is reliant on the exchange of cryptocurrencies with anonymous users on a public network, a Business blockchain can provide a permissioned network with known and verified identities. With this kind of transactional visibility, all activities within that network are observable and auditable by every network user. This end-to-end visibility, also known as shared ledgering, can also be linked to business rules and business logic that can drive and enforce trust, openness and integrity across that business network.

A Brief History of #Serverless Evolution | @DevOpsSummit #CloudNative #DevOps #Microservices

The need for greater agility and scalability necessitated the digital transformation in the form of following equation: monolithic to microservices to serverless architecture (FaaS). To keep up with the cut-throat competition, the organisations need to update their technology stack to make software development their differentiating factor. Thus microservices architecture emerged as a potential method to provide development teams with greater flexibility and other advantages, such as the ability to deliver applications at warp speed using infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) environments.

Multiple QA and Staging Environments | @DevOpsSummit Serverless #CloudNative #DevOps

Conquering the challenges that managing test environments brings is a huge obstacle to achieving DevOps efficiencies in enterprises today. Gaining automated, real time visibility across the enterprise portfolio to establish a single source of truth to align teams and identify and resolve resource conflicts is key. A tool to keep track of environments at all times makes the job of test environment managers easier by displaying strategic allocation challenges in a single, consolidated place. Gone are the days of having to fire up Excel and send emails to gather this data again.

DevOps vs SRE vs Cloud-Native | @KubeSUMMIT #CloudNative #DevOps #Serverless #Docker #Kubernetes

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and controlling infrastructure. The rise of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is part of that redefinition of operations vs development roles in organizations.
